Meditations, Affirmations

Ohhmmmmm…..

Meditations and Affirmations can have lasting positive impacts on your emotional wellbeing.

These practices are super easy yet so effective! It can take as little as 5 minutes a day and you will have long lasting effects. These practices, even the most simplest routine, can help you live an intentional lifestyle in no time!

What and How to Use a Meditation

Meditation is when one relaxes enough for the parasympathetic nervous system to turn on. Simply get into a  comfortable place, settling in, and performing some deep breathing. You’ll notice almost immediately how the day and current worries melt away.

Don’t feel worried if you feel like a fish out of water here. Many follow guided meditations to help them get the swing of things. (Also why I have some here on my blog!) What is important is finding something that you enjoy and stick with it.

5 Minutes a Day is all You Need

I know I know, it’s 5 minutes you could choose to do something better with your time. But what if I told you that over time you will have better moods? Or you will have decreased stress and worry? That 5 minutes a day could truly have a positive beneficial result on the rest of your life! Now that 5 minutes doesn’t seem so long, does it?

Using Affirmations

Affirmations are a “string” of short words. These phrases are generally positive and easily remembered. They are meant for a person to say them  a few times in a row.

You should focus on the phrase, positivity, and how the words  impact you. They key is to truly believe the phrase as you say it. Affirmations are best practiced throughout the day.

A Way of Checking In with Yourself

Picture this: Your in the rise and grind of your day. That morning work routine just totally drained you and your boss just asked for even more of yourself in the afternoon ahead.

Exhausted, you can’t even imagine how you’ll get through the next few hours. Your counting down the minutes to your next break so you can just zone out on your phone, detaching from the craziness or work that surrounds you…

Now picture this: you had a tough morning but you’re settling into your break. Your boss asked for more performance this afternoon. You recognize your cup is less than half full already.

You decide to sit close your eyes and take deep breaths. Checking in with yourself, all the worries begin to fall away. Giving yourself a hello, you also speak internally how hard working and proud you are. You thank God for the life he’s given you, the children, home , and husband he’s provided. You sit in stillness for a few more minutes. Then you wrap it up with a short phrase of positivity. You get back to work feeling refreshed all the while remembering how awesome you are!

That is the power of meditations and affirmations. It’s a simple as 5 minutes folks.

As Women We Get Stuck in Our Heads

We over think, over analyze, and second guess all the time. To be fair we come from  societies where we are taught to second guess, and search for external validation majority of the time.

As a woman that has gotten stuck in her head more times that I care to count, I have used meditations and affirmations to help align my purposes to actions.

Using a simple, easy, but effective practice while pairing it with positive words has benefited me immensely . I can only hope that it benefits you as well, I urge you to give this a try for a more intentional practice!
