Ever hear the phrase “What you put out in the world comes back to you”? Most of us have. But my question is; Have you really thought what this means? Most of the time when I heard this I always thought of those people that upset me. The people that I hoped karma would come back and get. Boy was I ever so wrong….
All too often we become stuck in a cycle of negative thoughts, feelings, and emotions. At times I viewed others with jealousy and even hatred for the life they were living. I wondered why mine felt mediocre. It was then in those moments that I started to really take steps to turn myself around, and began searching for positivity. I searched for the life I truly wanted, desperately I’ll add.
As I worked through my inner struggles I realized that having some positivity around me really created all the difference! I would love to tell you that every day I have some elaborate spiritual meeting with myself, but that’s not realistic. I am a mom, a working one, time can be limited, and I know yours can be too. That’s when I found out about affirmations! These short simple phrases can have an amazing impact on your day if you let them. This post will guide you through what affirmations are and the benefits to self affirmations.
What are Affirmations
This may be your first time hearing about affirmations, or you may already know about them. Maybe you have seen them advertised in the reading section of the store and they caught your eye, but you never thought much more than beyond that.What ever the case let’s start by talking about; what are affirmations?
Affirmations are short positive phrases. You say out loud, read them, or what ever you choose. These phrases are empowered to build you up and shift your negative mindset into a positive one!
Often we live in a world we have become too self critical and negative on ourselves. These simple phrases are for when we begin to feel that pressure or weight on us. It is a way for us to begin to believe in ourselves again, even in the hardest of times.
When to Use Affirmations
You can use affirmations when ever you want! I suggest daily because we all need some positivity in our lives routinely! I suggest focusing on one phrase a day and throughout the day go back to the phrase, take a minute to relax in its words, and feel the power it has over you.
Ultimately there is no right or wrong way to use an affirmation, the main point is to simply begin! Have it be part of your morning or nightly routine to pick a simple phrase that resonates with you for the day of, or day ahead.
How to Use Affirmations
First pick out a phrase that really resonates with you! There are so many out on the internet, or maybe you even write your own! Whatever you choose have it be short, simple, and above all positive.
Select certain times throughout your day when you will bring focus to the affirmation. Maybe it’s when you’re showering, or driving. It could be on your lunch break or a short 5 minutes in between meetings at work. What ever works for you and your schedule, as long as you set the intention to focus on your phrase.
Truly be in the moment with the affirmation. Read it in your head, say it out load, close your eyes and meditate for a minute on those words. Truly being present and focusing all of your will on these words is when you will notice the best shifts of all.

When we start to acknowledge the hardships in our life we can begin to set intentions for change! Putting affirmations to work is also great as well! After all actions truly solidify the words we speak, Right?!?
